SUSE Linux from HP to desktops: Compaq dc5850

HP has announced that it will begin selling desktop computers with SUSE Linux. With this announcement, a new ring is added to the company’s non-Windows products. The previously announced Mini 1000 netbook also came with the Ubuntu-based MIE operating system.

The Compaq dc5850 model loaded with SUSE Linux is unfortunately a product designed mostly for the commercial and education market. However, we are pleased to see HP sailing into the open source sea. We hope HP will follow suit and offer a wide range of open source operating systems loaded products like Dell.
